音樂治療是什麼?
What is music therapy?
音樂治療是以個別或小組形式進行的音樂活動, 由註冊音樂治療師設計及帶領, 透過音樂讓參加者充分抒發內心情緒及想法, 並有助改善個人身體、 社交、 溝通、 情緒、 智力、 精神等等需要, 從而提高生活質素。 每一節音樂治療療程都為個別需要和治療目標而經過專業設計, 形式包括唱歌、音樂遊戲、即興彈奏、音樂創作、音樂聆聽、歌詞分析、歌詞創作、音樂放鬆練習、面談等。
Music therapy is the professional use of music and its elements as an intervention by a registered music therapist. Through
musical interactions in an individual and group setting, helping clients to improve their physical, social, communicative,
emotional, intellectual, and spiritual health and wellbeing, thereby optimize an individual’s quality of life.
Each session is uniquely designed to meet the needs of the individual client. Therapist and client engage in a variety
of musical interaction such as Singing, Musical Games, Improvisation, Music Listening, Lyric Analysis, Song-Writing, Guided Imagery & Music,
Music Relaxation as well as Verbal Discussion.

音樂治療是一種已經被證實對有精神病的兒童或成人有效的心理治療療程. 已被列於英國醫療體系之中的一個非藥物療程. 能夠幫助參加者減低和住院有關的創傷,
參加者透過音樂互動和語言的表達探索內心. 能夠幫助改善各種精神病的負面症狀(Negative symptoms), 例如缺乏動機, 社會退縮, 減低情感流露和反應等.
Music therapy is recognised as an effective psychological intervention in the care of children and adults with mental illness, it has been integrated into the medical system in UK as a non-pharmacological intervention. It can play a valuable role in helping minimise the trauma and disruption often associated with hospitalisation, and can have apositive impact on negative symptomsexperienced with a mental health illness,such as motivation, social withdrawaland diminished an affective experience andresponsiveness.

「玩」音樂又能減壓, 又能在音樂中找回和表達出真正的自己. 心理學家唐納德·威尼科特(Donald Winnicott) 看「玩」作為一個人培養創造力和找到自我的起點, 是一個作為內心世界和外在世界的接觸點, 一個「過渡空間」(transitional space) 容讓我們將內在的想像力以及一個人的內在本質和外在世界融合. 他提出, 一個人只有在玩的時候才能夠使用整個人的人格和個性. 只有一個人的「真我」才能夠發揮出創意, 而這個「真我」才是真實, 實在和 活著的.

Playing music is a way to 'de-stress' as well as a medium for us to fully be and find ourselves.
Psychologist D.W. Winnicott saw the act of play as the basis for creativity and discovery of one’s true self. Winnicott suggested that playing is something that crossover our internal world and the external world, a ‘transitional space’, where we are able to merge our imagination, our true self with the tangible external reality, yet not having the need to be compliant to the external world.
It is through playing that an individual is able to use the whole of his personality. "Only the true self can be creative and only the true self can feel real”.

音樂治療能夠在復康服務、日間護理及寧養服務等提供一個有治療性質的創意互動空間,增加機會在一個群體裏與他人接觸, 利用音樂與人分享, 表達自己.
又能利用音樂作生命回顧, 懷勉過去, 以不同的角度來重新檢視往事, 重溫過去的事件及經驗,重新感受不同經歷所帶給他們的喜怒哀樂. 從而加強對自己人生的肯定, 能夠與他人分享自己的人生故事.
「懷緬是一個記憶人生最重要事件的過程。」(Mclnnis-Dittrich, 2005)
Elderly people can feel socially isolated when they are recovering from illness and are away from neighbours, family and friends. In these situations music therapy can improve self-esteem and encourage memory recall.
